Re: Good game from Nolan today...
All leagues have stepped up and it wouldn't surprise met if he would struggle in the Championship too. Surely as an experienced professional footballer who can read the game, knows that he is well off the pace. It must be so embarrassing for him knowing he no longer has the legs. I do feel sorry for him in that respect.

However, he is stunting our growth as a football club as we are continuously playing with ten men whenever he features and as D3 has said, the goals have dried up so he offers very little.

Don't be ridiculous, dicksie. You know full well he wasn't comparing the two players.

It's now getting to the stage where I'm wishing an injury on our own captain!!

Re: Good game from Nolan today...
Comparing Sir Trevor, two-time FA Cup-winner and regular England international and West Ham United legend, with Nolan is overstepping the mark a little - but I respect the sentiments...

Nolan has definitely been worth his transfer fee and, without him, we wouldn't have returned to the top-flight at the first attempt or enjoyed a fine return to the Premiership with his ten league goals in 2012/13...

However, the goals have really dried-up and he's slower than ever before and if he's not hitting the net then he's not offering us anything...

He's a very old 32-year-old and is not a natural athlete which is so crucial to modern football now playing in the elite leagues...

It's time he moves-on... And that will be to the Championship, I'd imagine...

Re: Good game from Nolan today...
Its a season too far for Nolan but its his manager that is not doing him or himself any favours now.

Real shame. I have the utmost respect for Nolan the captain. man, player but you have to know when its time.

Sir Trev knew. At 33 he was still our best player and even in his last game (we lost 0-1 to Everton I think) was still leading their defence a merry dance at times. But he said at the time that he knew he would be struggling to make the team very soon and it was best to bow out gracefully.

No problem with Kev seeing out his contract and no problem him on the bench. In fact it would be reassuring to have him there and ready to come on and shake us up etc.

His legs have gone. He can no longer play 90 mins of Premiership football. The game is faster than when he was much younger. Basic science.

Henderson definitely made more accurate passes yesterday than Nolan has made any sort of pass in the last three games.

Gale in the commentary feigned surprise that Nolan was where Downing had been playing, as in "What the fuck is going on here?"

Re: Good game from Nolan today...
I thought Nolan's favouritism would get Allardyce the sack at the start of the season but his injury was a blessing to the fans and kept him a job.

I reckon it's going to be nasty next week, and both Nolan and Fat Sam will be a target for the boo boys. Rightly so too.

What's happened in a month is quite baffling isn't it? Nolan's return coincides with a mammoth drop down the table, plus a severe dip in form for half the side. Downing, Valencia, Jenkinson, Cresswell, Song..

I reckon the Liverpool midfielders made more passes in that one game than Nolan has made this season.

Re: Good game from Nolan today...
Tony Gale yesterday must have made the point about 18 times about Nolan playing where Downing should be. Everyone can see it, bar Allardyce himself.

Ron

I've always laughed at those that call him a good captain.

A good captain wouldn't do fuck all in games apart from strolling around shouting and having a go at others for mistakes.

As an example he is awful captain.

Good for the dressing room....

Imagine how good the morale is in the dressing room after a loss when Nolan is contributing 6 (fucking six!!!!) passes over one and a half hours of football....

Collymore when commentating on us v Hull a couple of weeks ago was questioning why Nolan was starting and playing in the hole forcing Downing wide. He was then quick to point out how much better we were 2nd half when we changed it and Morgan came on and we scored 3.

It's ok though Ron, Nolan guarantees goals from midfield.

Green is a successful pass as opposed to red which is a failed one.
